Is Age a Factor?

Hey guys,

Since dental schools target Mature students, what is the average age for 1st year students across the country?

I am 25 now, and if I get accepted, I will be 26. Also, I am hoping to move on to residency if I finish dental school. What is the average age of the students in residency?

I think its safe to say the avg hovers around 24. But remember there are people that are 20 when they get in and others that are in their 30's.

I don't think age is too critical unless your approaching 40 or so.

You'll get plenty of responses, bec I think there are a few people on here that are in their upper 20's as D1's and D2's.

The average age of students at our dental school is 26.

That is pretty typical for an entering age at most dental schools in the US.

don't know the ave, but i know someone that's 41... will graduate at 43 and wants to specialize

i say just do it if it'll make you happy and if it's what you reallllly want to do

I am 31 now. If I am lucky to get in 2004 (turn to 32), I will finish at least at 36.... I am scared a little, but will be happy with DR... degree.
