Does AMCAS really take 6 weeks to verify like their website says? For example, if someone submits July 14th, when will they likely be verified? Is it usually shorter than six weeks?
You mean June 14th? I submitted June 17 and still am not verifiedDepends on when you submit, at peak application times it can take up to 6 weeks. Check the AMCAS verification thread to get an idea of other people's verification time (or the AMCAS twitter). July 14th will probably get verified this week, maybe Monday next, if I had to guess.
Sorry, read that as June 14th. No idea for July, it's been taking ~3 weeks but that could change.Depends on when you submit, at peak application times it can take up to 6 weeks. do they say 6 weeks? Maybe it does take that long for some if they need to resubmit their app for some reason. That said, on-average, peak verification time happens hits around mid-July --> early August, clocking in at about 20 business days (~30 calendar days). You can see from the timeline im maintaining in my sig that we are approaching those numbers. Impossible to say how this cycle compares until it's over. I would say that it looks like verification might actually be taking *longer* this year than in some previous cycles.
like I said, I can't predict the future. It stands to reason that it will take at least 20 calendar days to be verified should she submit in July. Tell her to focus on the MCAT. One thing at a time.Okay, makes sense. I already submitted my app in June (still waiting to be verified, so I guess it would take until mid-late July at this point 🙁). But I'm asking this for a friend - she wants to submit her app on the day of her mcat or a day after her mcat. If she does that, is it likely that she would still be verified by the time score comes out? Or is it better for her to take a day off from studying to focus on AMCAS and submit the week before her test?
I looked at last year's thread and it seems like most people who submitted late July were verified within 20 business days. But I guess this year is different?

Ok got it, thanks! I guess there isn't any real pattern, and it varies.
there is a pattern: it ramps up until about early august and then decreases slowly until the amcas deadline in october.
It's just that I dont know if the peak will be at the same place this year as every other year because it seems to be taking longer this year than in other cycles. This signals one of three things: 1. most ppl on my timeline are lying or reporting inaccurately (unlikely). 2. the peak will happen much earlier this year because a larger proportion of applicants applied early this cycle than in years past. 3. the peak will happen in the same location as years past (early august) but it will be higher because of a larger total volume of applications, or a larger volume of early apps.
Other possible explanation (although maybe not too plausible, idk) is a change in verification procedure on their end causing apps to be verified slowerthere is a pattern: it ramps up until about early august and then decreases slowly until the amcas deadline in october.
