Is anyone fed up with applying? Cuz I am. I'm beginning to hate pharmacy with a passion. 3 years applying, I'm tired. If I don't get accepted anywhere next year, then hasta la vista baby. I'll quit and pick something else non-health care related. 😡

Try your best and good luck, I know a few people who gave up and theres no shame in choosing a different profession.

can't even imagine going through pharmcas 3 times. once was excruciating enough!
Really? How many universities did you apply to?
I applied 3 times to a single institute. What worry me is travel cost as it's hurt more if you accept the many K of miles interview(s) and failed it.

Btw, how can you fail an interview?
Stating the fact that you are in Rx to make money is simple honesty and no where arrogant. I said it pre-existed unconditional biased.

Well if it was me in your shoes, I would apply broadly to several schools, regardless of the application costs. Your chances of acceptance are much better if you apply to many institutes vs. a single institute. You can't really "fail" an interview per se, however there are several things you can do to better prepare yourself for the interview and impress the adcom. Here are a few links you should look at regarding interview preparation.

Why would you apply to a single school 3 times ? That's either being overly confident in your stats/abilities or not making the smartest decision. I got rejected last year from 2 schools and I am pissed at myself for only applying to two. Had I applied to more, there is a chance I would be starting pharm school this fall. This year I am going to apply to at least 15 regardless of the costs. I think it's better to lose 2-3 k but ensure your acceptance than apply to 1-2 schools but potentially lose a year.

Apply to several programs at once like pharmD, PA, physical therapy, etc it will cost money but ur future is more important. Those careers all pay well and u will live a comfortable life, NO career is perfect so don't think pharmacy is something u must do but try as u please and open other doors at the same time.

I applied to 10 schools and had a lot of luck with that, so I didn't really need to apply to all of them. For me though, I already had an acceptance before I even went to some of the interviews. I think that made me a lot more confident because I knew I was at least going somewhere!

I want to start off by saying that I completely understand the frustration...I applied 3 years also. I got accepted for this fall, but what I realized was that you have to make yourself more competitive each year you apply. Last year I became more active in volunteering and I performed undergraduate research with one of my professors, and other credentials. I also improved my GPA the last year before I applied which helped a lot (I retook some pre-req's too to get a better grade)...show them that you can handle multiple tasks at a time, and that you really want to do pharmacy, etc. Maybe you have done this but I thought I would share in case you haven't.

Also, I applied to many schools this last year and got accepted to 3 (including my top choice) and was wait listed for 1.

Well, good luck!!!😀

I have a friend who needed more three attempts to get into pharmacy school. Like you, she was really frustrated with the process that left her finances in worse shape with nothing to show for it. She was fed up too until I urged her to give it one more shot. Now, she's preparing to move to her new pharmacy school.

Getting rejected all the time does suck but you shouldn't hate the profession if the process is laborious. It sounds like you are more fed up with the admissions process than the profession of pharmacy itself.

That pretty much sums it up.

I have a question: would pharmacy pre-reqs go to waste if you decide to choose a different profession or field that would otherwise not need those pre-reqs?

Same here. This is my second year applying. If I don't get accepted anywhere this year I am moving on to a different health related career.

Eh, I'm sitting pretty with my programming & comp sci classes as electives and University Physics with Calculus II & II (versus Physics for Majors...) because I thought I wanted to be a computer programmer, no wait, a comp sci major, no wait, an electrical engineer... then I learned more about each field and found out they'd drive me crazy.

The answer to your question depends on the prereq and the program. For any science major, you need electives and general science credits. So yes, you may be looking at O Chem as a general science credit, but it may still save you from taking another course. Your more general classes - at least 1 year of lab sciences, mathematics, English, etc. - will probably be more applicable. If you're talking about an arts degree, all bets are off.

what are your stats and exp like? maybe we can help you improve and give it another shot. let us know! 👍
