I'm taking AP physics C next year, and I wanted to know who else it taking it. The main reason I'm taking this class is to show the physics teacher I can do a whole lot better in physics If I studied harder. Back story: I took a physics class freshman year and didn't study at all and landed a C in the class. I've always wondered what my grade would've been if I actually studied. Soooo..... are any of you guys risking your GPA with me? Also are you studying during the summer? I am lol.

I'm also risking my GPA next year taking ACP Spanish and AP Biology..... They are pretty well known in my school as being demanding (one kid was on track to be salutorian until he got a D in AP Bio haha).

But I think being challenged is good, and we will be better prepared for college and hopefully someday med school by taking them :D

If you're a good student, taking AP classes shouldn't risk your GPA. AP classes are much easier than actual college classes.

I disagree! Take AP Spanish for example. If you take it in high school, your teacher knows you already have 3 prior years of Spanish. You're gonna be expected to know how to conjugate verbs in several tenses and have a good grip of the language. Compare that to a college Intro to Spanish class, where they have to assume you have no previous Spanish experience.

I think you're right when it comes to languages, but not for science and mathematics.

I took AP Physics...and I'm glad I'm done!!! ;) Very few people in my class got A's, and the kids that did were pretty much the geniuses that didn't have to try that hard. If you're that person, great. If you're not, get ready to bust your a** if you want the class to raise your GPA lol.

I'm taking AP Physics B because I don't like calculus.

The rundown of AP courses i'm taking are AP Literature, AP Psych, AP Physics B, AP Computer Science.

Anyone taking any of these?

Aw so close, I'm taking AP language & comp., I can't stand interpreting books, always sucked at it. I wish my school offered AP physics B, then I would definitely choose that over AP physics C lol.

I took AP Psych this year and let me tell you, one of the most interesting class I have ever taken! Even tho I had to self study a lot cause the class was divided for students who wanted to take the AP part of it and those you wanted to take regular psych. So my teacher taught the regular class and we had to study for the AP part ourselves. It was really easy and fun! Recommend it to anyone, it allows you to understand how people work!

I am taking the late AP Psych test this week on Thursday! I think my hard work will pay off!

Be ready to go FAST in Physics B. The material isn't that difficult since it's algebra-based but it's a lot and you have to go fast to fit the whole curriculum in. Especially if you live in the northeast where school starts 2-4 weeks later than the rest of the country.

If I couldn't take AP Physics B, I would just take regular Physics to be honest.

Thanks for the advice, I will most certainly take it.

I've taken AP Physics C and took the Physics C E&M test last year.

Good luck!

Am I the only person on here who absolutely hates physics?

Biology: Awesome
Chemistry: Pretty Cool :)
Physics: Yuck :barf:

I find that I like theoretical things more than factual. I also like effectively "doing" something. I dislike learning about "processes" which makes me question being a Pre-Med... I honestly don't "love" Chemistry, or Biology at all. I mean it's interesting to learn about these processes, but... Not my slice of pie. I'm not good at math either but Engineering seems more tailored to my personality.

My favorite subjects are neuroscience and biology. I like engineering but only computer science. Mechanical engineering is not to my fancy.

Bioengineering ;)

Until you have to take Bioinformatics and Differential Equations and they tank your GPA. :(

I'm almost the opposite.

Biology: Meh
Chemistry: Awesome
Physics: Pretty cool

I can't retain information well like others, so chemistry and physics are better for me personally, because it's all problem solving.

Biology by itself is pretty boring.

It's when you start applying biological concepts using the other sciences (and even calculus) that things get interesting.

I think Mechanical Engineering is my favorite because you can apply the concepts with SO many fields.

"Oh I think i'm bored with the development of nanotechnology... I think I'm going to find a job in another field... Maybe help solve the energy crisis"

Computer science is broad too, but not as broad IMHO.

My friend is about to graduate with a Biomedical Engineering degree from Rutgers... He describes the process it as a "brief marathon while your two feet are on fire"

Considered it briefly as a stepping stone to Doctor. But then i realized that would be a little pointless and put a halt to that plan.

For Physics C will you be taking both mechanics and E&M? Or just one?

If you want to do well, brush up on calculus.

Agreed with this. You should definitely know your basic derivatives and integrals especially for mechanics. Stuff like product/quotient/chain rule for derivatives as well. Kahn Academy is good for this.

I'm taking AP Chemistry next year which is known in my school as a killer.

taking Physics Honors online because school doesn't offer Physics B and i'm only doing calc next year :(
might self study physics B , physics 1 as it will be in 2015

I'm just taking mechanics. I wish mechanics was a year-long class, but it's only a semester long class in my school, so it'll really fast paced. Only the brave choose to take mechanics and E&M.

AP Chemistry isn't that bad, just make sure you study the concepts thoroughly and then the math will slip right in. If you don't know the concepts, then you can't solve the problem correctly. I'm doing pretty well in it now, I have an A which pretty sweet.

AP bio is going pretty slow. We just finished cat dissections and I have to write a journal about it. Then we have two more projects to do which is going to suck.
