Planning to take the DAT at the start of August and that should be the final part of my application. I don't want to rush DAT but wondering if I should try to and take exam in July so my application is not too late.

Yes, it is a bit late. I'm not sure how prepared you are for the DAT currently but I would definitely aim to take it earlier if possible.

From experience... early/mid July is probably the latest I would consider taking it. Yes it is possible to get in if you take it in August but doing so is doing nothing but hurting your chances.

I applied the first week of July (had all my stuff submitted, but just waiting for my DAT scores), but I wouldn't go past mid July

I took the DAT early August, submitted application mid August. I got 2 pre-December interviews.

Most applicants with average scores need to apply earlier. If you are far right on the bell curve, then it might be okay, but nonetheless, the earlier the bettter

Took it late August, studied for about 6-7 weeks was enough. Got a decent score with a perfect GPA and still I would recommend taking it as early as possible, even if it means taking some classes after you apply.

I scheduled my DAT for early July and ended up pushing it to early August. I did well, but looking back I wish I had taken it sooner because my application didn't get finalized until late August. Luckily, I received two post-December interviews, but I think that taking the DAT earlier would've made a huge difference in getting earlier / more interview invites.

If I am done with and send in my application by mid-June, and take the DAT in August, is that any better? I know that the AADAS application take roughly two months to process, this means my scores will be sent in a week or two after the actual application has been sent in.

Not really that much better, most schools aren't going to look at your application until it's complete (i.e. the DAT score is received) anyway. Your application being complete in August is not ideal.

Okay thanks. I'll apply Mid June and schedule DAT either mid-June or first week of July. Thanks.

I applied in late October, took the DAT at the end of september. Got into my top choices, including a state school and ivy. If your application is strong, i personally think applying late will not stop you from an acceptance you deserve.
*I didn't plan to apply late, just decided I didn't want to take a gap year.

I didn't get my application submitted until August 15th. I KNOW that I lost some interviews because of it. I still got other pre-Dec interviews and I was still accepted to multiple schools, but I had less options and added stress because of it. It really ended up costing me even more money as I had to make a deposit on a Dec 1 acceptance, just to get a January interview at another school that I'll be attending. An interview that I would have gotten early had my application been in.

You just need to be honest with your stats, your experience, and the overall strength of your application. With decent stats and ECs, you'll still get in, but you'll need to apply to more schools and you'll end up with fewer interviews and options. With lower or even an average application, you may want to wait, especially since you won't know your DAT scores going in.

If your GPA is strong and ECs are awesome, then I think having fewer options is better than waiting a year.

You will hurt your chances if you apply late. Don't shoot yourself in the foot and hope luck bails you out!
