Hello,

I'm planning on taking the MCAT in January and applying to Podiatry schools in February once I receive my scores. By then, I'll also have all my classes finished. This is still before priority consideration ends, but I'm wondering if this is too late in the application cycle.

That is perfectly fine. I also took the Jan. mcat this year but didn't apply until April due to some personal issues. I got interview invites to 4 schools out of the 7 I applied to as some of the schools were already full. I got into 3 schools and declined to go to the 4th interview.

So yes, applying in Feb is perfectly fine. If you want, you should pre-fill out all the info on the application since it lets you save info. And have your essay ready. Also you know you can send in the application about 1-2 weeks before your mcat score comes out since it may take a while for your school to send in the transcript and have it verified by the application service.

Oh another thing, if you know you only want to go to a particular school, like your top 2-3 choices, I would just apply to those schools first. You will save a lot on application fees! Then if you didn't get into those schools, then you can always have the application service send your application to other schools.

What were your stats if you don't mind me asking.

What were your stats if you don't mind me asking.

My science was 3.1, non science was 3.6. My classes were all over the place though due to doing a engineering minor and a bio major with a bunch of humanities.

I had a 29 on mcat. 12 verbal. 9 biological, 8 physical. Also I had a really good LOR from a pod that I shadowed for 6 months, with total hours of around 80 hours. ( this included some pods where I only shadowed for 2-3 days).

But I had bad stuff on my app too though. I had a few c on some science courses though I did retake the courses and got b or better. Also I think the fact that I went to an undergraduate school that was pretty well known to be hard may have helped. I did a ton of research on the schools I went to interview at and did really well in my interviews. I think that was my saving grace since I applied so late.
