Is being a Teaching Assistant considered an Extracurricular activity

I feel like this may be a gray area, but I have been a teachign assistant for molecular biology, physics, general chemistry. Should I consider these activities extracurricular.

ABSOLUTELY.

Absolutely put it on your resume, CV, AMCAS, you name it.


I would also recommend saving your student evaluations in case you need to create a teaching portfolio someday if you're interested in academic medicine.

Yeah, especially if we're doing it for credit instead of money? Haha it's technically "curricular" since it shows up on the transcript as a class.

The section you're filling in on AMCAS is called Experiences. Whether it's curricular, paid, or volunteer, TA is a Teaching experience and valuable for a person applying to med schools.
