I thought if I posted here it would be best because , you guys are most likely expressed this , I suppose

would it at all be helpful after med-school to get an EMT certification and serve for a year , would that help you get a better residency or anything at all

No, I cannot see how that would be helpful in getting you a US residency. While they are a valuable member of the health care team, they do not perform as physicians, and therefore, it is unlikely to be helpful.

If you don't match, you are better off taking a Preliminary position or doing research, IMHO.

You are much more likely to get a better residency if you follow the normal pathway of going directly from med school to residency than if you take a year off. That raises questions.
