Is Boston University done with their interviews?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
BU interviews until March, but I think if you do not hear back from them by February, chances are low.

This is based off of previous years, so it may be different this year.

Have you heard from them (or anyone) any reason to think that they are not?

Oh I see. I heard Boston gives out alot of interviews, but I still havent heard anything from them. I have good DAT and GPA and have already been accepted to two schools (and a few more interviews ), but Boston is my first choice and I havent heard anything so im freaking out.
My husband just got accepted to BU medical school so I REALLY WANT TO GET IN.

CANgnome, did you by any chance take community college courses for your pre-reqs?
I feel like with your stats, you definitely have a shot at getting interviews at big private schools (since they take many canadians).

Remember that Tufts and BU do not take ANY CC credits as they even have that info on their website.
(I hear temple doesn't take CC credits either, but I didn't find that info on their website)

No I didn't all 4 year universities.

I am hoping my academic update will put some life into things :xf: Hopefully

I knew Tufts didnt take CC credit but are you sure about Boston?

Been under Review since July. I'm pretty disappointed that I didn't get to see Boston -_-. Ah well, I think if I went now, I would get stuck in one of those snow storms at the airport;p

I would walk through a hundred snowstorms to get a BU interview?

anyways, I heard from some people that they were rejected from BU b/c they had CC pre-reqs although others who had them got in 😕

BU definitely doesn't accept CC credits. Sucks cause not everybody goes to CC just for the easier grades.

Ohhh noo...thats bad news...I was not aware of that, and I have 4 of my pre reqs taken at CC

Are you directly sending BU ur official transcripts from fall semester or are you just going to update via AADSAS?

I will walk with you...

They told me that they prefer the academic update and if it is absolutely necessary, send in a transcript to their office so I just did the former.

I've sent a few updates and additional paper documents to BU since June so I did not really want to bog them down with more stuff. It really sucks though because the AADSAS academic update is also in MA and everything is slowed down now because of severe weather conditions.

By CC credit, I'm talking about pre-req courses as the other classes don't really matter for admission.

Look under "prerequisite courses":

Up to 30 credits of community college work will be accepted, but community college coursework may not be applied to the science prerequisites (biology, inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, physics). Advanced placement (AP) credits that have been accepted by the applicant's college toward the bachelor's degree are accepted for English and Math prerequisites. AP credit is not accepted toward the science prerequisites: upper-level science courses can be used to fulfill that requirement. Credits from an accredited four-year U.S./Canada college or university should match or exceed the prerequisite requirement in biology, inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, and physics.

This is why you need to go to each school's website to confirm about the pre-req classes. Some people who had their prereqs done at CC got rejected right away, and some people got their rejection letter around July-August (end of the cycle).

Hopefully you have another school that you want to go to.. you got some acceptances! so no worries 🙂

Thanks for looking it up..this is bad news for me 🙁 or maybe they wont reject me yet because technically I am still able to take those four classes before the classes start in fall.....conditionally acceptance?

Im really hoping they consider that my husband is already accepted to their medical school, and they would make our lives so much easier🙂🙂
Or else I have to rely on some sort of transfer during these four years...! hopefully they accept transfer students...

I hear that it is extremely rare to transfer dental schools because of differing curriculum. It might be the easiest after the second year when one finish writing the board exam and am ready to enter the clinic.

does anyone know any news from Boston University? are they still giving out any interviews?

No idea. But all i know is i got interviewed in Nov. They haven't told me acceptance or denial lol. Don't lose hope until post Feb. (low chance after that) but i did hear form one of the student there that she didn't get her interview until March. She laughed and said someone probably drop out last moment and she got the interview.

I interviewed there on tuesday, and received an e-mail today stating they accepted me. They said that they are still interviewing, as they have only picked half of their class. Those were the exact words of the dean of admissions, on tuesday, Jan. 11.
