This is a real bummer - was hoping to give chad's quizzes one last run through before the real deal tomorrow. Oh well, things break! Thanks for keeping us posted.
Within 10 minutes of restarting it would climb up to almost 300 at which point nobody could connect to the server, which is unsurprising given the above info but it would stop there. We may be a victim of DDoS (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Denial-of-service_attack) which takes down major websites though I hardly feel our site deserves that kind of attention (but the symptoms match) but it is more likely just a software / hardware bug. We have a new server that it is already being moved to so you can keep studying soon.😉For example, one can interpret a load average of "1.73 0.60 7.98" on a single-CPU system as:
during the last minute, the system was overloaded by 73% on average (1.73 runnable processes, so that 0.73 processes had to wait for a turn for a single CPU system on average).
during the last 5 minutes, the CPU was idling 40% of the time on average.
during the last 15 minutes, the system was overloaded 698% on average (7.98 runnable processes, so that 6.98 processes had to wait for a turn for a single CPU system on average).
*Something odd is going on with the server today. It is being overwhelmed by something, I don't know what, I don't really care, after last time it is just time to get rid of it and get a new one. I have one on order, it is supposed to be 2 hours till the server is delivered to me, another couple hours till I have everything installed and then I can make the DNS change. The DNS is where things get tricky for our users and why I hesitated to replace it before. For users that are only watching videos, you shouldn't notice anything. However, anyone buying new subscriptions, posting or that type of thing may find that they updated the old server after the change, those purchases are "lost" till the next day when all DNS everywhere is updated (they are like ripples through the internet). We try to only do this when absolutely required, which turns out to be every 2 years or so. I am very sorry for the trouble, everything should be better soon and we will certainly make it up to you.
Alan
You will still get to, we are moving to the new server now, hopefully it won't be too long. We have a new server that it is already being moved to so you can keep studying soon.😉
REAL BUMMER indeed 🙁
any idea how long till its up for today?
"certainly make it up to you" sorry, whats that mean exactly? all memberships extended a day or something?
We usually give around a 3:1 time extension for any issues on our end. I know how horrible it is to organize your whole life around studying, get to your favorite study spot only to not be able to study so we try to be generous in making sure you get more than you lost back. Of course our first priority is that it doesn't happen at all, but if it does, we do all we can to make everyone happy.

I rebooted again and server load is around 0.05 (very good) and seems stable. Starting to lean back towards a DDoS attack on the site which timed out since the site was down for a few hours. I am going to leave it up for now but am still moving servers just in case. It may go haywire again, but the process is already in the works to have it replaced to make sure this doesn't happen again.
This is specifically for if you have the error RTMP server not found which actually has nothing to do with what is happening today:Just tried watching videos and " server not found" 🙁
Finally getting the videos I paid for yesterday to load now;
anyone else finding Chad's mouth and the audio of the words having like a 10 second delay? i mean i dont mean to complain, it's just kind of distracting to see his mouth moving way before the words are coming 🙁
*bump*
Anyone else having this issue????? 😕
Please contact us through the site and let us know specifically which videos you are having trouble with, it should be unrelated to everything else so may be a local problem on your computer.
PS, we added 3 days to all subscriptions.
