Hey guys,

I wanted to know how you realized you would enjoy dentistry and should therefore go to school for it? Is it by shadowing or working at clinics or is there this innate drive for it? Any hints or advice would be greatly appreciated.

honestly i realized i enjoyed dentistry because I didnt have to take the MCAT, only 4 years of schooling as opposed to 4yr+residency for medical school, pay is very good, hours are amazing, dont have to deal with medicare/medicaid BS.

Well, when I popped outta my Mother's womb with a full set o' pearly whites, everyone just assumed... Then, at 8 months of age when I carved a perfect replica of Michelangelo's statue of David using nothing but a high chair and a Half Hollenback instrument, I KNEW.

Sorry, summer class is driving me crazy. 😀 But yeah, shadowing helped cement my decision. I'll be the only person in my family/extended family even remotely connected to the field of dentistry. I worked enough around my parent's farm to realize that I did not want to be a farmer, haha. The more I learned about dentistry, the more I liked it. It's a good fit for me.
