Is Dermatology possible for an IMG?

I have the following score:
USMLE step I > 260, USMLE step II and III > 275
8 Pubs in derm and rheum ( but none with a US dermatologist).
How can one make connections to qualify for a derm residency in the US?

Reach out to US dermatologists who are faculty at the residencies where you want to go, then ask them if you can do a research year in their department. Make it clear to them that your goal is to enter derm residency in the US and by doing the research you would like to obtain a strong LOR from them. I know quite a few FMGs who have successfully entered competitive specialties at competitive institutions by doing this. With your scores you definitely have a shot. Good luck!

Agreed. Research year. Preferably with a good name program. Find one that has gotten IMGs into residencies before. It will take some digging. Good luck

It is possible. There are FMG friendly programs out there. We have 2 FMGs in our program. You just need to know where to look.

In 2020, 16 non-US IMG's matched into Derm. 17 did not. These numbers do not include applicants who received no interviews.
