Any body else here is planning to go for neurointervention fellowship, how tough is it to get now a days, is it worth spending that much time in training.

Oh boy. Here we go again.

Those who can do neurology, do neurology. Those who can't do neuro-IR and spend their time trolling ERs and marketing themselves.

The work you're inquiring about goes by several titles these days, including endovascular surgical neuroradiology, interventional neurology, interventional neuroradiology, endovascular neurosurgery, and neurointerventional.

It is a competitive fellowship for neurologists to apply for, but attainable with proper work ethic, inclination, and contacts within the field. It has traditionally been performed by neurosurgeons and radiologists, but is becoming more open for qualified neurologists.

If you type in any of the job titles I mention on this forum, and the SDN radiology or neurosurgery fora, and/or check out www.uncleharvey.com and www.auntminnie.com you will find a veritable avalanche of information. I mean pages, and pages, and pages, and pages of information answering everything you could ever feasibly ask about this topic.

You may also try looking into the Society of Vascular and Interventional Neurology website for more details.

Weren't you also querying about pain medicine fellowships not so long ago? What turned you off about the specialty?

Pain, headache, intra-operative, and interventional...he/she wants to have it all!

Seriously, Hindidoc, you have been on this board long enough to read multiple threads about NIR. I am closing this thread out of principle, as you are contributing nothing while continuting to post new threads about each subspecialty that pops into your head. Please do a search before you post anything further.

To answer your questions: yeah, it is tough. Yeah, it is worth it, if you want to be a very intelligent and skilled plumber. This horse is already long since dead.
