i have noticed, i think that i haven't seen any electrical toothbrush that advertise itself as approved by the dental association, etc.

and they are getting so powerful, they are like a toiletbrush instead of a toothbrush. they can not only rotate, but also push up and down.

i wonder if it is good for the gum at all?

One of the major keys is to not use much force. Brushing teeth doesn't require a lot of force, especially when you are in the soft tissue region.

Lots of the newer brushes actually have different power settings. One for teeth, one for gums and tongue, and another for gentle massage.

They're very safe and do an excellent job (or so I've been told by those who know lots more than I do). And, they don't necessarily have to cost $100. Those Crest Spinbrush ones do a pretty good job if used properly.

"toiletbrush"? I didn't know that your teeth were that bad, must be awfully big 😀 😀 jk!
I think that they are much better than manual toothbrush. better at removing stains and polishing than manual tooth, easier to reach the back teeth (molars). I've used both O-ral B and Sonicare but I prefer the O-ral B better due to its circular motion, better job at polishing the teeth; just let it does the job, don't have to use pressure. For Sonicare, if u use too much pressure, it'll automatically stop by itself.
No harm done to the gum, not that I know of!

The perio department at my school seems to think that the Sonicare toothbrush is one of the finest out there. You can also have your school call and set up a demonstration from the sonicare representative and they'll come over your lunch time and give everyone who attends a free sinocare elite. A 135.00 toothbrush for free. I like mine so far.

oh, yea, free goodies. that is one good part of being a health professional. i can't wait till the day when i start.

^^^ what he said!!

I think there was a published journal article that showed that Oral -B is the only brand proven to be effective compared to other brands

Here are the reason I like Oral-B more than other brands

-- round small head is able to reach specific areas that are hard to reach with regular tooth brushes

-- with some of the Oral -B models, if you press more than 2 g ( over ?? area) of pressure while brushing, the tooth brush would stop automatically to protect your teeth and gum

-- it is made by Braun...
