Filed secondary already for the school

Likely sent to all. Financial aid and admissions operate independently of each other- they both have enough to do without conferring about students who may be accepted soon. Conversely (or something), send the FAFSA to all schools you're considering if you haven't already because some aid is first come, first served.

this wasn't from financial aid office. It was from admissions

Regardless of whether this school is interested in you or not, your cycle is going to be more stressful if you read into things like this. Why would a school send FAFSA requests to students who are going to be interviewed/accepted without telling the students they're being invited to interview/have been accepted? Why would admissions spend their time generating a list of preferred applicants to receive this email? While it's possible, I imagine their time and energy is dedicated to generating the interview invite list and accepting candidates.

As others have said, just apply a little common sense. Why on earth would the admissions office play games by sending you a "good sign" instead of just sending you an II???

Oh, well then you answered your own question. You survived a huge cut by receiving an II. THAT'S your good sign!!!! 😎 There is no other sign to be had before the interview.
