Is General Practitioner and General Dentist the same?

Sorry to ask such a silly question... So I guess when I described the general dentist that I shadowed in my app, I referred to him as a general practitioner. Is this appropriate or is this typically used for general medical doctors?

Same thing. The difference between the two terms is even less than the difference between DMD and DDS (which is 0).
