Hi, I'm currently working through my bachelor and I want to become a pharmacist in future. Would pharmacy tech help me more to get into pharmacy schools? If yes, would a trade school be good to get a certificate or its a waste of time?

You can get the certificate by just taking the test. You do not need to go to school to get your license (big waste of money).
Pharmacy experience is always a plus. Sure you can get in without it, but you really should know exactly what you're getting in to.

I just asked my dad (a pharmacist) this yesterday. I was going to take the test just to be certified, but I don't have any chance of being able to work in a pharmacy before I would start the PharmD program so he said it would really just be pointless. (I have 2 kids -young- and I have to finish my prereqs this fall/spring). If you do plan to be able to work as a tech, yes it would be something good to have.

It definitely isn't something to go to school for, huge money waster.

From what I know about Texan pharmacy schools, pharmtech experience is highly recommended as it gives you insight into what you'll be getting into, since you'll be able to interact with pharmacists and may be in charge of pharmtechs in the future as a pharmacist yourself. Plus, gives you something to talk about during interviews regarding situational questions about working in a pharmacy.

If your dad is a pharmacist can he help you get experience?

Everyone who applies to pharmacy school should be required to work a year as a pharm tech before being accepted. You will have a much better idea going in of what to expect once you graduate and are thrown into the real world. This may even weed some people out who don't have what it takes to gracefully point a customer to the bathroom while jotting down voicemails, verifying prescriptions and ringing up baby formula.

So, yes, working as a pharm tech will only help you in your future career, and I would think most schools would like seeing the experience.

Definitely, nothing beats experiencing the real deal before entering a career path.
