I know I will probably get a lot of hate for posting this, but is going to one of the SUNY or CUNY schools bad? Also, what about colleges that don't make it onto most college rankings (Mercy College in New York for example)?

What about CUNY - York?

No, it's not bad. Especially going to a SUNY with a med school. Also FYI, Cornel offers in state tuition to NY residents. SBU is top notch in science. SUNY Geneseo is also well known. I would avoid a school like mercy unless you receive significant money. Schools on the national university list tend to have more research opportunities, but this isn't absolute.

CUNY colleges are all good.

I wish I could get into the main campus....my favorite theoretical physicist Michio Kaku teaches there.

I've read practically all of his books. And watched his TED talk.

No, it doesn't matter where you go. Just do your best in college, get some solid ECs going, party like a rockstar, and BE a rockstar on the MCAT.

You'll get in.
