Hey everyone. I am changing my major from biomedical science to psychology which would push me back a semester and have me graduate in the summer of 2018. Would I still be able to apply this summer for the 2018 cycle?

Yes. So long as you complete all graduation requirements prior to med school matriculation in 2018, you'd be fine going through the application process before then.

Note: there are a handful of schools that require completion of all prerequisites prior to applying or prior to January of the matriculation year, but I'll assume you'd get all that done before next summer (2017).

Also note, some med schools matriculate in June or July, and you might have to refrain from applying to those, depending on when your summer session would be complete.

I have unfortunately seen what seem like silly cases, such as finishing a required prereq in time but not making it to official transcript before matriculation, thus being forced to defer.
It's sad to think that any school would not lean over backward to provide documentation that all requirements for graduating are completed despite the absence of a updated final transcript. I haven't seen a school fail in this regard personally, but am glad you can add this cautionary note, the need for which I'd hope is rare.

Great. Thanks! I may not change my major then. I was trying to find another way to stand out but if it means another semester I wont do it.
