Hi. I was wondering what Harvard requires, and if there is any possibility for me to even apply?

PAT: 19
QR: 19
Reading : 22
Biology: 22
G- Chem 24
O-chem 22

Total science 23 ( 97.8 )
AA 22 ( 97.00 )

My Science GPA is 3.75
My Overall GPA is : 3.73

I know 4 languages fluently. And Ive done cancer research, and on top of that I have done lots of extra curricular. ( 300+ hours shadowing), president of 2 clubs, and what im hoping to stick out the most is that I started a down syndrome association program for teens with downs syndrome from scratch..

Any feedback is appreciated.

Do you even know one thing about Harvard dental school? Or you applying there just for the name?

Well,, im california resident... and I have done research on harvard.. know they are research based, and prefer uniqueness infront of just DAT ( Of course with a minimum of 22 )..

Thats why I was wondering...

Well, that's pretty obvious. I haven't done any research on Harvard and I could have told you that they are research based and prefer unique candidates.

C'mon you gotta be more convincing than that. I bet you're going to google them now lol.

Btw, why would you be asking us about Harvard? How many people in the DAT Discussion subforum apply to Harvard, let alone in the other subforums? I mean how many threads about Harvard on SDN can you even find? It seems to me you started this thread to pat yourself on the back and to show off your credentials.

You might have a shot, although, they tend to like higher PAT scores. Harvard is expensive for not that much extra learning. Try UPenn.

One thing ive noticed about you "Letsgo2Dschool" throughout my time here at SDN, is that you are the most negative member sdn has! Majority of your comment are to put other members down.

Ive noticed this a whiiile back, that every comment you put in for someone always has a negative input. If people dont believe me, go check his history !

and no, I could care less what U think... this is a forum for suggestions and help.. And its not like you are working in the admissions of hardvard that I need to showoff to you.

Besides,, I dont think my scores are anywhere close to amazing,, so no, im not patting my self on the back.

Harvard's a crapshoot even if you have a 4.0 and a 26AA. Can't hurt to apply though, you're a strong applicant. If you're applying this cycle, I'd recommend getting your app in ASAP though.

 Actually that's not correct. Only about 5% is negative. 95% vs. 5% isn't a bad ratio.

Do you truly believe you will receive reliable sound advice from the Harvard experts that we are? Are you really that naive?

never mind my friend.. Best of luck to you..

I was hoping that some members that might know something (not including letsgo2dschool) could give some suggestions.

Main reason I asked was for the following;
Maybe they dont want out of state
Maybe my PAT, QR is not high enough
I just saw on predents that it says they require 24 for AA on DAT.

So for the following reasons, I thought I might ask if i even had a chance to apply. I was more like putting my self down, than actually trying to "brag" over anything..

Oh well,, hope its more clear to mr stone-paper- scissor man (Letsgo2dschool)

I'm looking at the 2011 ADEA Guide and here are some self-reported stats from Harvard:

(these are for the 2010 entering class)

DAT
AA: Range 20-25; Mean 22.4
PAT: Range 16-25; Mean 20.4
TS: Range 19-28; Mean 22.5

GPA
Science: Range 3.27-4.11; Mean 3.71
Total: Range 3.36-4.07; Mean 3.76

Number of Applicants: 943
Number Interviewed: 127
Number Enrolled: 35

CA residents 8 (highest among states)
MA residents 4

No deposits required (I guess everyone who gets accepted goes there)

And anytime you wanna take me on in rock, paper, scissors, bring it on!!

It's the internet, don't take things personally.

All good info here. I've been wondering this for a while but it seemed like a stupid question to ask....do schools report the average statistics of applicants?

Also, I wouldn't view the low numbers in the range as representative since it could easily be one or two legacy students with serious connections or someone who found the next best thing since sliced bread: cure for hair loss.

Your scores and GPA are pretty good so you do have a shot. Go for it!

Don't take me too seriously people. Most of the times I'm not even serious in my perceived "mean" postings.

The stats are for matriculated students and not applicants. The only applicant stats that are included are number applied/interviewed/enrolled.

They also have some interesting demographic stats. So if you tell me your gender and ethnicity (Native American, Asian, Black, Hispanic, White, International), I could provide this info too.

Actually upenn and Columbia for that matter are much more expensive than Harvard.

Harvard is a private university, therefore they don't discriminate instate/out of state!! And actually they preferred CA residents last year!!
