I wasn't sure which class to choose.
Intro to Biochem is like 2 semesters condensed into 1.

Ehhh I would talk to a predental counselor about this but I’m pretty sure it needs to be the actual biochemistry class for most dental schools.

Nah “intro” is kindve misleading in my experience of college courses. The course is very thorough in biochemistry usually but labeled intro to not be confused with the biochemistry for biochem majors.

@op I would actually just email the schools that you're interested in applying to. Most pre-dental advisors don't know what they're doing, it's far better to be proactive and have actual conformation from the school itself. The predental advisor at my school told me shadowing hours didn't matter...

This is the best advice here.

if it is an upper division course and has the biochem abbreviation on ur transcript, it should be ok.

I would email the schools for this question. That's what I did and they got back to me pretty quick! Just in case, I attached the course descriptions for both classes.

ahh same. All I hear from people is how great their pre-dental advisor was and here I thought I was the only unfortunate person lol.

Not sure if it is the same as "Intro to Biochem", but I took "Elementary Biochem", a supposedly easier version of the upper level Biochem courses that most Biochem majors take, and schools had no issue with it.

Realllly late reply I know but i'm signed up to take "elementary Biochem" right now and i'm wondering if its adequate enough to prepare for the MCAT. Some people have told me it will require some self-studying to learn what itsn't emphasized in the elementary one but others have told me I need to switch to the full sequence.

What do you think?

Sounds like a biochem course and if it’s an upper level course it counts.

This is the Dental Forum and our test does not have Biochem on it; you're probably better off asking in the MCAT Discussions Forum!
