Is it advantageous to apply early for SMP's?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
It depends, I feel. If you're still waiting on hearing back from med schools, then I wouldn't apply just yet because you could potentially be wasting money on application fees and tuition deposits (if applicable, some schools, such as VCU's CERT don't require a tuition deposit). I would shoot for an April or May application unless you want to shore up your bets sooner rather than later.

If you know for a fact that you're not going to med school in the fall, then I would apply now. Many schools have rolling admissions, so the earlier, the better. However, I've seen people apply as late as June, and they're still accepted for the fall.
