I submitted several applications via PharmCAS earlier this month. I didn't submit some of my supplemental applications until just now (3 weeks later) cuz I figured they're not even going to look over my applications til they have my PCAT scores anyways. I did get several emails saying "...supplemental application not received yet...", but they looked automated.

Will I look bad for submitting the supplemental application this long after my PharmCAS submission? I felt like it wouldn't be a problem taking my time to complete the supplemental application questions since it specifically stated on their websites "will not look over application til file is complete" - and my file can't be complete til my PCAT scores are in anyways.

I think as long as your supplementals are in before the school's deadline, it should be fine.

PCAT scores you can't really control but supplementals should be turned in before the deadline. I think it might be bad if it's after the deadline since some schools might throw you to the back of the pile in terms of reviewing or not even look at it. But if it's before the deadline, you're still fine even if there's a time lapse between Pharmcas and now.

Even if it is past the deadline, check with the school, some schools might still allow it.

I played that game, too. It all works out if you make it before the deadline. I don't think there are any exceptions to this. Also, a file can be complete without PCAT scores for the purposes of interview.

What about submitting a supplemental the day of the postmarked deadline? With my long work hours, I have not been able to finish my UCSF supplemental yet and am planning on refining my essays this weekend and mailing the application this November 3rd. Pharmcas finally calculated & verified my GPA which I am happy about. I thought it would take at least five weeks like it says on their website, but it took them only 10 days. Not to happy about my GPA though, doesn't make me very competitive for UCSF (Overall: 3.42, Science & Math: 3.4).

IMO, if it's a rolling admissions school, the earlier you send in your application, the better. Especially if you think you're not competitive "stats wise." It's not a "bad" thing to send in your application right before the deadline, but bear in mind you will be competing with a lot of people for less spaces, many of whom have better numbers than you do.

However, like I always say, this is pharmacy school not medical school. It's not the kiss of death to apply late in the cycle.

sprinkle0420,

If it's a non-rolling admissions school, such as UCSF, when you submit your supplemental, plays absolutely no role in your chance of getting in. Don't stress about it being postmarked the last day. It's fine. I did it!

If the school has rolling admissions, then it's a whole different story and you definitely want to submit your apps as soon as you're able.

Good luck!
