Would it be better for me to get a LOR from CC and another from my 4 year or all from my 4 year? I am wondering if showing consistency in character along the way makes a difference? I wonder if receiving LOR's that follow my path to med school would make a difference or not? Another question is whether it is better to take classes that have a smaller class size in order to have more interactions with the professors? Thank you for all responses.

Get them from the people that can speak best for your professional and personal capacities, whatever that means for your situation.

If you make the consistent effort to get to know the professors, class size can be overcome.

Get LORs from people who can best judge your academic capabilities. And stop persisting in pre-med delusions. Consistency of character, indeed.

PREMED : Psychotic Reactionary Event Manifestation Exclusionary Disorder

A disorder that is a psychotic reaction to the events around applying to medical schools that manifests itself in the exclusion of rational thought. Seemingly highly intelligent, high achieving students are most susceptible to this disorder. Loss of major rational thought and reactions to unsubstantiated beliefs, rumors, innuendos, and other irrational and illogical cognitive processes. A form of collective behavior.

I think premeds react this way because there is not clear cut path into med school. There are not set standards besides gpa and mcat and even those can fluctuate. There is no set standard on ec's, volunteer or clinical hours. When we join a forum it turns into he said she said because in the end a lot of the advice given here should be take with a grain of salt as the process itself seems to be volatile and unpredictable. Where I am currently at there is not premed guidance so SDN is my premed guidance until I get to my 4 year that is why I ask question that to someone who has already been through the process may seem irrational or maybe even obvious.

Just a thought: I collected more letters than I needed and my premed adviser selected the best of them to include in a committee letter. If you're not sure which professor to pick and you're doing a committee letter, it might be better to get both and have your premed adviser, someone who can read the confidential letters that you can't read, select the ones to include. That way, you're guaranteed to have the strongest letters.

I'm a bit neurotic and had 11 LORs, but that's because I go to a small school and know every professor on a personal level as well as having multiple from my ECs beyond school. My premed adviser used 6 of them I think. I couldn't decide who to ask and who not to ask, so I just cast a wide net. Worked out well for me.

Interfolio made this all a breeze. I 100% recommend it.
