Is it common for schools to allow pursuing a Master's at a different institution?

I'm interested in pursuing a Master's, but I don't want to be forced to complete it where I'm receiving my medical degree. For example, if I'm attending Vanderbilt for medical school, I may want to do my Master's outside of Vanderbilt. I've looked at some school websites and many of them don't mention if I can complete my Master's at another institution.

It is common to be able to complete the masters degree at a different institution when you are enrolled in an MD/MPH, MD/MPP etc.

Many schools will permit you to go elsewhere to complete MPH, MS, MBA while taking a leave of absence from Med school. Best to ask when deciding to matriculate. I’ve had students come to my school for masters and I’ve had students leave to do one elsewhere.

Agree with above, you wont be able to do a masters at another institution without taking a leave of absence in most cases
