Is it difficult to find work out of the US State that you graduated from?

Hey everybody. I'm currently trying to decide schools, and have an out-of-state school as an option. As of now, I live in California, and I would like to work here in the future. But that could probably change.

Let's assume tuition isn't an issue.

I was wondering if any of you went to school out-of-state for pharmacy school.

How much did being in that state affect your job hunting?

Did you have originally have intentions to go back to your old state? If that changed, why?

If you did go back to your old state, was it difficult finding job opportunities there?

Thanks!

While I'm not a pharmacist (yet), I could shed some light on my experience in terms of hunting for an intern position. Take it with a grain of salt; a lot of luck was involved. My answers are bolded.

I am from California as well and I went OOS for school (CA schools are, for the most part, just too damn expensive).

My current state of residence is regarded as quite saturated however I got an offer for my current intern position easily, almost too easily.

Hell no. California has way too many schools opening up. Not to mention my company is located only on the east coast so that's where I'm gonna stay.

If you did go back to your old state, was it difficult finding job opportunities there?

Does not apply since I have no interest in coming back to California.

Thanks!

It shouldn't make any difference assuming you are licensed. 2/3 of the pharmacists I know went to school out of state
