Is it easier for girls to match rads?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Maybe. Maybe not.

For instance, ortho is male dominated, and it is harder for women to fit into the "boys club" of orthopedic surgery.

It is at my program. Generally, we have had a "hard" time matching female applicants and they generally make a point to rank them higher. Of course, good looking female applicants many times have it easier in all fields, especially with old male program directors.

It's probably program dependent. Programs in New York recruit women very easily, while others don't have such an easy time. I know at the program I'll be starting at in July, they made a point in the past 2-3 years to try to get more women because the location isn't desirable for singles.

And I say this as a female.
