hey guys...i'm freaking out cus i just came on here and everyone was talking about how if your app isnt in already then you're way behind. i know ideally i wanted to get in that early but for an august retaker if i submit my app now am i too far behind? i don't want to throw away all this application money if its too late to get a good look from schools.

You're definitely behind. About a third of schools have already given out interviews to regular applicants. Plus, it'll take you another month to get verified if you aren't already. I'd get it in ASAP.

don't want to give you false hope, but YEA YOU ARE LATE

Keep in mind that sites like this tend to have a disproportionate amount of overachievers and people who are looking for any edge that they can get. That said, it would have been better to apply earlier. Not sure how much it will hurt your chances, but I'd talk to your school's pre-med advisor if you can.

You are late...but that does not mean you cant get in...you would have benefited from applying early but people do get in that apply late

do you think i've hurt my chances tho? if schools won't start giving out acceptances for another month and a half if i get everything in asap won't i still be ok?

If your stats are good, then you could still get an interview and be fine. If you're borderline though, a school might be hesitant to give out one of the remaining interview slots. You might find yourself with an interview in February or March which can mean it's just an interview for the wait list.

I guess the MCAT schedule is different now, but I took it last August, and didn't submit my application until the middle of September. It was verified a few days after I got my MCAT score. I didn't have my first interview until sometime in November.

That said, don't worry about it too much. Just submit it as soon as you can. I ended up with three admissions, including my top choice.

Interview spots are abundant at the beginning of the cycle, like July and August. Adcoms hand out interviews much more readily at that time than, say, November. Later in the year, adcoms are looking for any reason to not give out few remaining interview slots. So some shortcomings they would've have forgiven earlier in the process, like poor performance in a few semesters, become reason to deny interview later on.

You ARE late, and you ARE at a disadvantage, but you still have a good shot if you're a very qualified applicant. Many people on this forum got in last year who didn't complete their apps until late October (those who took the Aug MCAT).

Is it late to have already been processed, and have all secondaries and letters in by September 15?

If you are complete (secondaries, rec, mcat, etc) by July and August, you are early. Sept is something in the middle. I think completing after Oct 1 becomes late.

This year is a guinea pig year with the new MCAT season. Especially since people don't really have to wait until August to take the MCAT twice or even three times, I'd get your app in ASAP.
