This is normal. Chill

It's pretty normal for this to be the case. At some schools, it is dependent on when your interviewer has time to show up for an adcom meeting to discuss your application. Other times, it is dependent on when the interviewer submits your evaluation. Or it could be delayed due to any number of reasons.

Relax. Your decision will come when it comes. You can freak out after your get waitlisted/rejected.

+1 to all above. Completely normal. Most likely the biggest holdup is your interviewer. We're supposed to have our reports in within 72 hours of the interview but many times people forget. Also the committee is not constantly meeting...it might be once a week, it might be once every two weeks...and they probably have a set number of applicants to go through. You might have just missed the cutoff to be reviewed with the earlier batch.

some people from one of my interview groups got accepted a week after
i didn't get a decision for 3 months (waitlisted)

If its an MD program, it could be because you interviewed with early decision folks and its too early for you to hear back. No one's heard back yet for regular decision...right? (He says nervously)

At least not for MD schools, AMCAS has their decision embargo up until October 15th (one week!) 😀

Did you apply early decision? People aren't supposed to hear back decisions for another week or so.

And I thought the early decision deadline was October 1st? I am confused too, maybe DO school?

Oct 1 was "a week ago" from OP's post. He very well could have been interviewing with EDP applicants.

Fair enough, but I guess what I am saying is that if OP was ED then that changes the answer to his question. If he was ED and others have heard and he hasn't (past the October 1st deadline) then I don't think that bodes well 🙁

EDP applicants have to be notified about their decision (either accepted, rejected, or added to the general pool) by October 1. OP is not ED or he would have heard by Oct. 1. Of course could be an error on the school's part, but I doubt it.

Oh I see what you are saying now, OP is not EDP, but interviewed WITH them. That could explain things. Sorry about that, I knew how EDP worked, but at all the schools I have looked at the EDP applicants interview before the regular admissions people. I guess I didn't realize they could interview together! Thanks for the info 🙂

No worries. I forgive the misunderstanding because you are also The Doctor. 😀

guys its a do school. and for the record people got accepted as early as sept 27th and i still haven't heard a thing! it's starting to grind my gears

DO schools operate differently, so that explains it.

I guess I just wasn't expecting this to be posted in pre-Allo if he was talking about DO.

Me either, I guess that's clears everything up though. OP, while I think all these answers certainly still work, you may get a more representative response if you posted this in pre-osteo.
