Is it normal to have a period of silence during a standardized patient MMI?

The actor would not feed into anything I said, so the last minute or so was just awkward silence. I decided this was better than rambling or repeating myself. I'll be doing another two SPs tomorrow, do y'all have any advice on how to handle these stations?

Awesome job with the IIs and acceptances!

I had an MMI with an actor that was very tight-lipped as well. There were definitely a few periods of silence (3-5) as I was trying to think of other things to say to this person for their situation, but there was not an excessive amount of silence and I tried my best to ask as many relevant questions or give as much relevant advice I could think of. I believe the periods of silence helped me think of things I would not have initially thought of.

I was genuinely worried about this too but then received an acceptance phone call yesterday.
