Is it normal to need a physical before volunteering in a clinical setting?

So, I currently don't have insurance, and am in the process of being "hired" as a volunteer as a hospice. They said that one of the requirements is to get a physical + TB test. Since I was vaccinated for TB as a child, I can't get the skin test, and I'll need the X-ray, which comes out to ~100 bucks with the physical.

Being the insanely cheap person that I am, needing to show you're healthy (at least the TB test) is normal if you want to volunteer at a hospice or a hospital, right? I guess I'd rather not get the physical if I don't have to, and if this hospice is an exception in requiring a physical I might look into other ones. Thanks for answering my stupid question.

For the TB, that is normal yes. See how much the quantiferon lab test runs.

The TB test requirement is usual, and needing some other titers/vaccines is common. Requiring a physical is not.
