Is It OK to ask why have not received an interview yet?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
which schools are you concerned about? some schools send out lots of invites at once, while others slowly send small batches each week. if you haven't gotten an invite from Penn or Hopkins or Columbia, i believe it may still be early in the process. but if you were completed at Uchicago back in august, and you have yet to hear anything, then i would worry.

Is anyone else in my boat...

stats/ecs good to great, submitted applications rather early, received notification that app was complete sometime in august...First round of interviews were sent out to those schools you were interested in (some middle/top schools), but you never got an invite.

I hear you and am in the same situation. But we're barely out of September now so I wouldn't worry too much about it because it will only drive you nuts. I know people who applied last year and didn't hear anything until December and still got into one of their top choices.

All I can say is be patient. It will all work out in the end.

Yes, I have heard a lot of people say "well, i wasn't interviewed until december/january and i still got in." But, maybe these people were not complete early in the game. Maybe these were later applications that arrived at the school--hence their later interview.

some of the schools i was wondering about are nyu (which i've heard A LOT of people heard from...not me), Penn, and Dartmouth. Any ideas of whether I should call and ask regarding these schools or wait? do you know if they've sent a lot out already?

If you haven't already, you can check to see if your application is complete and ready to be reviewed by the adcom at each school. A missing item could be the reason for the delay!

Good luck!

Have you gotten at least 1 or a couple of interviews at your other schools? If you haven't heard from a few schools, then there's not much to worry about. If you haven't heard from ANY despite being complete long ago, then that's a different case. For your info, I know people who have been complete since august for both Penn & NYU and some of them got invites just this past week. There's still hope :luck: . I dunno about Dartmouth though.

If it makes you feel any better, I haven't heard from NYU & Penn either, and I've been complete since beginning of august 🙁

ditto for UPenn, here.

What kind of stats do you think one must have to get an interview at nyu? I haven't heard either.

I haven't heard from NYU lately, and I even asked to see if they were planning on interviewing me (trying to group my NY interviews together). I asked by e-mail because I heard that they aren't very nice on the phone. 🙂

Nope, haven't heard back.

Are you talking about U Penn? I've been complete there for months and haven't heard anything. Just because we haven't received interviews yet doesn't mean we won't. If you look at the interview thread, very few people have received interviews from them. Do you have at least one interview yet? If so, stop worrying, the time will come.

i think we're all freaking out too much 🙂 remember a lot of schools are just finishing up their early decision interviews/acceptances. i had a dry spell for three weeks before recieivng another interview. and honestly, i think a lot of the schools are simply slow...i've been complete for a really long time too and have recieved interviews at places that seem to infer that i am at least somewhat of a competitive candidate, but haven't heard a peep from others (nyu included). don't worry, we're all in the same boat, (who woulda thought senior year would be this stressful???) and its still very early in the game (remember, some schools only started interviews this month!) 🙂 let's keep each other's spirits up!

Checkmate,

You're not the only one. I too am in the SAME exact boat as you. Graduated from a top ten undergrad, good stats/ec/recs, and I've only gotten 3 interviews (2 backups)... so I've been worrying a lot too recently.

I appreciate you having the courage to post about it, but have faith... others are definitely in the same position as you.

I think I'm going to join this little support group...same situation...graduated from top ten, decent GPA/high MCAT, good ECs, good recs, etc...I have 2 interviews and I've been comlete at most places for a month...

We'll here soon, I'm sure of it...good luck to all 👍

Thanks for all of the feedback. (and thanks Krelian, that does make me feel better, because I was complete as well that early at those schools). I have gotten several interviews, which put my mind at ease somewhat, but I haven't gotten many (have four). It's just that the ones that I am most interested in, I haven't heard from--and I think particularly with NYU, I would be a good match with my stats.

Did you hear back from NYU when you emailed them asking whether they were planning on interviewing you?

CheckMate and others, you at least have some interviews coming up... there r people who have not heard a word from schools (any school) so calm down..it is still early in the game so stop stressing and devote time to preparing for the upcoming interviews.......IMHO One in hand is better than two in bushes my friend.....

is it ok to call and explain the situation, or is it too premature?
I can tell you that calling UPenn & NYU did not help much (at least for me 😡 ). If you get more receptive responses, please post them here 👍 .
