Is it possible to add summer grades into my coursework before adding schools?

Hi all,

So I am a longshot. 2.99/3.23/34Q ER technician with shadowing, volunteer exp, etc etc. I have a 4.0 post-bacc GPA, of which my verified AMCAS only reflects 2 classes: biochemistry and my EMT cert course.

I just got an A orgo II this summer and would like to add it in/maybe push my sGPA over the 3.0 mark before applying to a few more schools. In fact, I think this was the advice I was given at the beginning of the cycle--verify early and add the schools once more courses have been completed.

However, now that that time has come, I'm looking at AMCAS's app update policy and it says something about how AMCAS will NOT add grades for courses marked "future/in progress." Please tell me I'm misinterpreting this!

I guess it might not make a huge difference anyway since apparently not many low-mid tier MD schools screen anyway--I've gotten secondaries everywhere I've applied but SIU--but I'd still like to update the schools on this development, since I need all the help I can get making a case for my academic competence.

IN SUMMARY...got my A in orgo, wondering how to update AMCAS/ schools without sending a letter before I've even been waitlisted, and if there's a point to adding more schools in light of this development

You can't change or add grades in AMCAS once you've been verified. Send an update letter to the schools.

You read that correctly. There is no way to update grades via AMCAS. The best you can do is send update letters to individual schools
