Hi I want to know whether i can complete the gpr program in 11 months... i will start gpr on july1st and as im an international dentist applying for dental schools, if i get accepted the dental schools starts in may so i will not be able to complete residency by the time school starts. so is it possible to start school in may as they may not allow me to take a month off... but im thinking to compensate my days by working in the gpr hospital during weekends and holidays.... Iam very much confused. I dont wanna waste my 1 year because of 1 month... has anybody ever done this before.. any information or advice will be highly appreciated... thanks!

Why not ask the DS if you can start later. CODA has a 12 mo. requirement for GPRs. You might be able to work something out with both if you let them know what you're trying to do. It's not like you're trying to moonlight. You also have 4 wk vacation time in the GPR. Maybe they will let you take it at the end.

thanks for the reply... I cant ask DS now bec I am gonna apply this year so by the time i get selected i will be done with half of my residency period. Dental school starts summer program from end of may which is preclinical course and they strictly want us to attend that course, only then 3rd year starts for international program. I asked my friend in dental school and they told me this will be a question in the interview process as if you will not be able to make it to attend the summer course, they might not give acceptance...So I wanted to know whether anything is possible from gpr side. I am thinking to go and talk to the program director next week... is it possible that he will accept me to come and finish 1 month time period sometime later...

As I stated, you get vacation time in the GPR. Ask them if you can take it all at once, in the last month, because you plan to start dental school. This will allow you to start school, since you won't be physically present at the GPR.
