Hi

I have a BA in Psychology and planning to apply for DPT school.

I was wondering if it is possibly, or if anyone has taken all of the Pre-Req classes in 3 semesters (Spring, Summer, Fall) and apply in Fall 2018 for Fall 2019 ?

(Important to note that I still need to take the GRE)

Thanks for any input !

That's what I did, but I suppose it depends on how many prereqs you have left. I think I did Bio I/Chem I in the summer, Chem II/Physics I/A&P I in the fall, and Physics II/A&P II in the spring.

Depends on how determined and focused you are. I certainly think it's possible.

So when did you take the GRE ? I am planning to apply Fall 2018 for Fall 2019..

I need to take the following classes-
Chem I + II
Physics I +II
Bio I+II
Anatomy
Physiology
Statsitcs

As well as complete the GRE.. From your experience is it possible ?

Thanks!

Back in April/May I decided to officially take the plunge and apply to PT schools. I had a short timeline...I had 6 pre-reqs to take and needed to take the GRE. I took CHM I, CHM II, and A&P I over the summer, took the GRE in early September, am taking Physics I and A&P II this fall while applying, and will take Physics II in the spring. It's been tough but it's definitely doable (and I've been accepted to one school already!). You need to be ready to COMPLETELY commit your life to your pre-req GPA because it's so important. I'd recommend trying to avoid taking more than 2 classes in the summer. It was really rough for me taking 3 and I didn't have much time to study for the GRE. That's another thing: plan to take the GRE early enough (maybe in the summer) that you can retake it if you want, and try to make sure that your class load isn't crazy leading up to take the GRE so you can leave yourself some time to prep.

Keep in mind that some schools will allow you to have 2-3 pre-reqs left to take when you apply. So you could apply in Fall 2018 and still be taking some of the classes you need, potentially even through Spring 2019. Check the requirements for the schools you want to apply to and plan accordingly.

I took the GRE a couple of months after finishing my classes. I only applied to one school and I think their deadline was the very end of Oct. I believe I took my GRE at the end of Aug or maybe the beginning of Sept. If I didn't do well it would have been a tight window to retake it, but I was happy with my score so that wasn't an issue. Those might be too many courses to fit into 3 terms. It really depends on how many hours your school allows per semester. At my school I think science classes with labs were 5 credit hours so using your course list that would be more than 40 hours of science courses in 3 terms, including a shortened summer term. As other folks pointed out, you can generally have a 2 or 3 outstanding courses when you apply.

As has been said before, you can typically have a couple of outstanding prereqs, so your timeline would definitely be doable if you're able to take a full course load each semester. I would research school policies and see what they require, or if they give preference to people with completed prereqs. I just replied to your other thread about you having a baby though and I'm kind of confused about when you would ideally have a baby with this timeline? Since you're trying to squish in your prereqs and GRE and applying next year (and you haven't mentioned if you have shadowing hours left to do?), I feel like getting pregnant could potentially jeopardize you completing everything in time. Or result in you having a very tiny baby at the beginning of your DPT schooling if you get in the first round. Once again, it's doable but it just sounds very stressful to me! (To be fair I am a pretty stressed out sort of person)
