Is it possible to get a B.S. and M.S in 4 years?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
It's very possible and has been done fairly often at this point. If you had a good amount of AP/IB credits, you graduate in 3 years. If you decide to do undergraduate research, possibly continue that for your M.S. Start that summer, work the year, finish the next summer = BS/MS in 4 years

Yep, you can definitely do it. I finished my BS in 3 years. I started college with 36 hours thanks to IB! I chose to gain clinical and research experience over my 4th year rather than get a masters. I want to go to medical school...I didn't see how a masters was useful for me.

Very possible. certain programs have been set up for this as well. If you haven't applied to college yet, check out Penn's biochem 4 yr program. All of em get a B.S. and M.S. in four years, and they send a lot of their students to med school.

Im sure there are lots of other programs like this too, or an advisor will help you make one.

sure it is!
my friend is diing it, although i believe he did have AP credits so that he czn graduate in 3 years

How many ap credits are needed? And what classes do you need for a M.S? (or what is the procedure)

bump. COuld anyone post a schedule on how to do this in four years? like what classes when

A friend did in (chemistry, non-thesis MS, BS) and he was a foreign student so no AP/IB credit.

You want a Big Sandwhich and Mega Sex (whatever that is)? I can hook you up in less than 2 days 😀

An effective schedule depends on your school. If you're a freshman I would highly consider taking courses that satisfy more than one breadth requirement early on, and then be prepared to cram classes during the summer

Has anyone ever done this? Is it possible? What classes did you take when?

You'll have to go in the summers, but, yes, you can.

My goal was to get my B.S. in three years, but I decided I didn't care so I took a summer off and watched tv. I still got out a semester early though.

What classes would you have to take?

The classes you'd have to take depend on your school and for what you want to get your masters in. Check to see if your school has a program that would allow you to go straight into an M.S. Know where all of your AP/IB credits are going and fill out your major requirements early.

At my school, it takes an extra year beyond the undergrad. Graduate classes would be taken in the third/fourth year and overlap with some of the undergrad requirements. Then there's the thesis in the last year.
