like eat 4-5 times a day and workout 2 hrs 5X a week while getting 6+ hrs a sleep. or is it impossible

maybe you should ask a certain subforum of a certain bodybuilding website this, they would have better answers.

yes its possible tho lol

Only 6 hours? Say goodbye to your gains

It takes you 2 hours to work out?

Yes, it is possible. I know a practicing physician who has a schedule similar to this. (Minus the eating 4 to 5 times a day, but I am assuming you don't spend too much time on that...?)

Might be difficult during residency though.

Is still still the seventies? Do people still really believe that one oughta eat 4-5+ times a day to gain/lose weight? o.o

Are you a competitive bodybuilder or a recreational weight lifter? If the former, then no. If the latter, then no problem. The two-hour workouts may not be feasible during your surgery rotations (third and fourth year), but for the vast majority of med school you should be able to maintain your lifestyle without too much difficulty.

If you want to eat 3.5K+ ya it's hard to fit that all in 3 meals.

I can probably fit all the calories I want into 2 or 3 meals but all that carbs and food would make me bloated and lethargic so it's not optimal

so i just graduated med school.. and even during surgery rotation which were the worst hours, i would be at the hospital 5am-6/7pm average.. still have time to go to gym and get to bed by 10.. the end of the week was always exhausting but had no problem training for a marathon during that month

👍

OP, I just started PHAT again last week.
If you get crunched for time, you should drop the auxiliary movements. The only real ones that matter are the power/assistance movements.

During the hypertrophy days, you shouldnt be taking that much rest anyways. I usually get done in about 70 minutes on hypertrophy days and about 80 MAX on strength days.

You can bring protein shakes/supplements to work. Get one of those shaker bottles and keep a vat of whey in your locker (do residents get lockers? there's gotta be somewhere you can store it). It shouldn't be too hard to get to 3.5k a day (this coming from a 5'0 female...but I bring my protein shakes to work if I have time to lift before and I think I would find it scarily easy to eat 3.5k/day if I wanted to. Bacon. Bacon everywhere. Some of that is my repressed Jewish upbringing probably)

Also, if you're pressed for workout time, head on down to the ED and help boost/transfer/dress very fat patients. Hits your delts, obliques, gluts, quads, bis, tris, lats...and your patients will b mirin while u hoist them

Bring good snacks to work - protein shakes, nuts, peanut butter, gallons of milk - you can definitely keep up the calorie count. It will be tough but I think it can be done, and intend on testing my theory.

Chocolate milk is great for bulking up. I usually make weight gainer shakes if I need to up my calories. (whey/milk/pb/oats/banana)

If the Todd can do it...
+1

Broham I believe it depends on your schedule and specialty. If you go into EM sure you'll have time. Surgery ummmm it depends. Working out is a good way to alleviate stress, thus I think you would really want to find time for it.
