Some med school such as my state school, "recommend" we have a full year of calc. The problem is I am terrible when it comes to math. I've already taken calc I and will be finishing up stat this semester. I have a B+ in calc I and right now an A in stat. I worked my ass off in calc than I did in both organic and physics. I know a lot of school only require calc and stat, but would it really make that much of a different if I have another semester of calc?

Take it. Use KhanAcademy if you're still not confident of calc. That helps

Many schools actually give you the option to take a semester of calc I and a semester of stats, but Calc II is pretty useful, in general.

I highly recommend taking it.

😕

Try Khan Academy. That will really help and prove your professor you can handle math.

Thanks. I'll look into it.

Now I just gotta work that into my schedule. If I didn't drop bio major I could've knocked out all it by next year but switching to Anthropology w/ minor in Psychology I had to do extra classes :/

Calc 2 is the more difficult of the calcs. If you felt calc 1 was hard well calc 2 feels more like algebra that doesn't make sense. It has a lot of long equations that if you get one little part wrong it does a lot of damage. Makes the difference between an A or a B.... If you really don't like calc take stats and be done with math. Medical schools are not impressed by Calc 2 any more then stats. However if you can do well in calc 2 you should take Calc 3 and Diff Equations. Doing well in all of that will increase your BCMP if you need a boost from lower science grades. If you don't less is more...

I still have PTSD from calc I :/

Bla bla bla, you guys are overthinking Calc 2. It's really not that hard if you study.

Take it if you need to for your major or if enjoy it the topic matter. you already have a year of math, so you should be good for pre-reqs.

Edit: adcom are not gonna care if you do it or not, they care about academic excellence. So if you're gonna suck at it, don't do it. This is a no brainer.

Hell...even take Calc 3 and Diff Eq. Ain't nothing but a chicken wing.

I didn't take it. Hell i even took calc I at a cc over the summer and stats through the psyc dept (I am a Neurosci major so this is the stats offered by my major), but I also took a Neuroscience course in mathematical modeling offered by the MATH dept. If you took AP Calc BC in hs many schools accept that.

I haven't had prereq problems at any school I applied to and am currently sitting on one acceptance 😀.

Actually, I don't need Calc II for the sole purpose of boosting my GPA. I was contemplating back and forth cause my state school highly recommend we have Calc I II and Stat.
I know majority of med school only ask for calc I and stat. No, I will not take calc III or dif. equation unless it absolutely required by med school or for me to graduate with my major.

most premeds don't feel like doing much work in dealing with quantitative stuff... too much thinking and challenge.. memorization is the way to go. 🙄

The premeds I go to school with are all about:

"Don't do it bro! It's impossible to get an A! Take it over the summer at a CC!!!"

I can't stand it anymore.

I would not have taken it if it wasn't required for my major.

"Recommended" courses aren't worth worrying about too much.

All the people saying Calc II are easy are either really freaking smart or at easy UG schools.

I never said it's easy bro.

Edit: Well... I sort of did. Still man, work hard and you'll make the grade. Or maybe I'm just smart.

Just to set the record straight, I haven't taken any courses in CC.

Oh, and my adviser emailed me back saying that I HAVE to take calc II if I still want to keep my assured acceptance. So end of story. Thanks folks for your input.

Calc II is pretty easy. It doesn't take a genius to do well in it.
