Like the title of the thread says. here was my situation:
interview #1: self-schedule 10/16
(2 weeks later)
interview #2: scheduled by admissions for 10/17 (changed to 11/7
interview #3: scheduled by admission for 10/15

unfortunately, i had already purchased plane tickets for interview #1...does it come across as rude to request a rescheduling of interview #3, especially for an out of stater at a public med school?

Its not rude at all see "ask politely" if you can reschedule your interview. But do it with the attitude that they don't have to be flexible at all. Usually they are pretty nice about it.

Seconded. Generally, the schools are pretty flexible. Just be professional and courteous in your request.

Yes..but why do you care? Seriously- you either have to reschedule or you don't. Just do what works for you. I think it's rude that some schools assign you a day without checking with you first- do they really think you've got nothing better to do than drive half way across the state/country just to see them?

I think it's fine, and I've done it a couple of times myself. I think the trick is not rescheduling an interview that you picked the date for. I think that's trickier to reschedule, and will require a good explanation. So, I think you're fine if you just want to reschedule #3.

it dosen't sem to matter that much. I rescheduled a few interviews (even ones I scheduled) as long as you give them a few weeks, it shoudln't be a problem.

agreed. same here. even though the letter might say, "it's really hard to reschedule, etc etc..." once you call them, they're really flexible even with dates that i had originally chosen.
i'm flying across country, and i'm hoping to get as many done in one trip as possible.
