Is it rude to call and cancel an interview 10 days before your anticipated interview date?

I'm not feeling this school anymore... and want to call in and cancel...

It's worse to waste their time if you have no intention of going to that school. Also, 10 days is much better than a one day notice.

You should definitely cancel if you don't want to go. It gives someone else the opportunity to interview who wants to be there. If you are ultimately going to turn down the school's acceptance, there's no point in going.

Try not to burn any bridges, because there may still be a chance that you would want to go there. That's my suggestion. Just tell them that you cannot interview this year. Leave it open-ended if possible. I would hate for you to change your mind later and then regret something.

Good luck!

It's not rude at all, in fact I think it's considerate so that it's less time and effort for them not to have to go through an extra interview. Why would you waste your time, money, and effort interviewing if you really do not want to go there and why would they want to interview someone who doesn't want to be there--both sides win.

I agree. If you are 100% sure that you don't want to go there, give them a call to cancel and give the next person on the list a chance. You'd probably want someone to do the same if you were that next person, right?

I agree it is not rude...what's rude is not showing up at all (which happened at my UH Hilo interview, the "person" before me). Luckily, I arrived early and just had an extra long convo/interview 😀
