Is it too early to send a letter of interest to a school that I've interviewed at? I've interviewed a few places and am conviced that its my top choice (the whole package and cost is great too!)

I know Oct. 15th is the first day, so I was wondering if I should send it in before that date in the event they're planning to put me "on hold"?

Also, I'm planning on sending thank you notes to interviewers...I understand I should keep it short and sweet, but is there any way to slip in that its my first choice and I really wanna go there w/o sounding too desperate?
