Hi everyone,

My wife just applied via IWA for the Step 2 CS exam. Will she be able to get a date for December, 2004? We are very worried that she might not get a spot before Dec 31, 2004. Thanks for your input.

You can check here to see which dates are available at every site. I'd advise your wife to sign up for a spot ASAP... they're going fast! She can always keep checking the site for new openings and switch her date if something more desirable opens up (free until December 31).

As of today, there was still a December date in Philadelphia. But I would just sign up for it ASAP, then if something comes up sooner. You can change the date for FREE if you do it within 30 days of that test date. That is what I did. I wanted to take it in November, but by the time that I signed up for dates no openings in November. Signed up for slot in December, then a November date opened up and I changed it...no problem.

I am worried!

I didn't sign up for the exam yet, (dumb) and the earliest reasonable date for me is Feb 15th! Will this affect my residency Match, that they won't have the result in? What happens to all the people who are taking it after Jan 1?

Please let me know any info.

Don't worry. It's only a P/F exam... no one will know how well (or not) you did on it! Programs won't use this exam at all to create their rank lists. Just take the exam sometime before you start residency, and you should be fine. 🙂

That may not be true. I heard from interviewing that you need to have taken and passed step 2 cs for the program to apply for licensure in your behalf. It takes about 6-8 weeks for the paperwork to go through for the licensure. If it takes 6-8 weeks for the results of step 2 cs to come in, then at a bare minimum, you would have to take step 2 before April 1. If its takes the full time, then if you take it in march (earliest open spots), then you will delay residency. 😱

Pretty crappy b/c I have not signed up yet, but am doing it NOW. I was going to wait, but am afraid of the possibility of delaying residency.

I'll start a new thread regarding this to see if it is true.

I was told to get a "training" license, you would have to pass step 1 and step 2. Now that step 2 has both parts, you would have to pass both those parts ti qualify for the educational license that the hospital grants you while in residency.

This is what I have heard along interviews. Hopefully I'm wrong.
