not getting as many interviews as i would like and am getting nervous cause I only applied for anesthesia, (I don't really want to do anything else). so is too late to apply to some more places? what if these places i want to apply to already started giving out interviews does that matter? When would you think was too late sept. 30th? mid oct.?

thanks for your advice.

from looking at the list of interview invites last year, i think it is still early. also, when did u submit? i was told it takes usually 1-2 weeks after submission before an invite is granted. not sure obviously but i think its still early in the game.

also, how many programs did u apply to?

ok, well i am an img so it's different for me. i submitted on sept. 1st. to 66 programs. places that i thought were "img friendly" based on their websites and current residents.

no prob man, im a DO student applying to 50. i really think its still early, look the interview invite thread, there is about 90 percent of the programs missing

wayyy too early to start panicking about the lack of interviews. maybe if by mid-october you still have <5, then go ahead and add a few but keep in mind, that quite a few good programs still wait until late october and into november until the MSPE letter is in before sending out another round of interviews

If you are an IMG 66 programs is not enough. But one has to actually ask what exactly do you mean by IMG - Carribean schools or the real one?

bigdan, how about for DO's? recommended number of programs. (a DO student without 240 usmles and 600+ comlex).

Ok I applied to 3 more programs making the total number of anesthesia programs i applied to......

I wouldn't freak out about not getting interview invites just yet. If your stats and/or rest of your application are ok without any huge "red flags" then you'll likely be alright. Many programs don't even start reviewing apps until after October 1st. Some programs are offering interviews now, but more will come in October.

thanks, i am not totally freaking out, i have a few already, I am just worried but then again i can't compare with the US 4th years on here who already have 6 or more invites. I don't think too many IMGs have gotten more than 1 or 2 invites just yet.

thanks for the support guys.. I have to say this forum eitehr turned around a little or i just got thicker skin but i remember when i started posting here, everyone was so rude, it's good to see the new change.

i'm simply an observer of this thread and also a bit on the edge concerning IVs, however i'm remaining optimistic and anticipating a soar of IVs....

keep ya head up..

I didn't receive as many invitations as I thought I was going to receive and they trickled in slowly. I kept thinking, "is this it?". It was frustrating and nerve wracking. My interviews painfully lasted through the end of January, including as many preliminary interviews as primary programs.

The great thing is I ended up matching at the first place that offered me an interview, which was also the first place I interviewed in early October. We both really liked each other. Had I been a seer, I could have just stopped my interviews at that point.
