Was just wondering if its too late to start shadowing? for the current app cycle.

It's already a bit late to submit your OptomCAS application at this time. There's still, of course, a chance to get in!
You could totally still do the job shadowing quickly (30 hours in one week is do-able I suppose) but admissions might look at it and question why your shadowing seemed so "rushed", as if it was a last minute decision.
I'm not sure about how easy it would be to contact your local optometrists to ask if you could shadow with them, but some might not view your request as a priority and tell you to come back in a few weeks when they are less busy (which would push your OptomCAS submission back).
I'd strongly suggest making sure your OptomCAS (and supplemental) applications are as filled out as much as possible while you wait to complete your job shadowing. Good luck!

If you already have a lot of your application done, go for it. When I shadowed, I talked to optometrists, and it was the same week or the following week they wanted me to come in. Even if you could do a few half days with one at a clinic, private practice, commericial, etc. I'd think it would be better than nothing! Not all the schools have a required amount of time you need for shadowing.
It is not cheap to apply, but does it outweigh another year of waiting? You won't know if you are rejected until you submit your application. Just go for it, and if you don't get in, you already have some shadowing hours for next year's application.

Does anyone happen know if the OptomCAS application must be submitted at least 3-4 weeks before the deadline posted on the website in order for it to be processed by that date? Both the OptomCAS and school's deadline is April 15th. I know it's better to apply sooner than later but I just wanted to know whether I actually had up until the 15th to e-submit it as long as the LORs and transcripts are sent by that date.
