i graduated this past fall, and today was my last day at work.

i don't start my new job until June 1st, and have nothing else to do between now and then.

i wasn't expecting to get the new job, and was planning on taking the MCAT over the summer. however, since i have, literally, nothing else to do until June 1st, I thought I would sign up for the May 24th date and take it before starting work on June 1st (since there is currently an open seat near me).

is this too soon? it's a little over 9 weeks/2.1 months away. i have all my books, since i was going to start over the summer. i just don't want to waste money registering if this can't be done.

I studied in a little over two months (although not recommended) and I did just fine.

In my opinion it can be done, but you should treat studying like your full-time job.

You're pushing it but I think it can be done if you have a strong background in the subjects tested and can study for 10 hours a day. I am studying using the EK set for roughly 2hrs/day and am about 70% done with content in roughly 7 weeks. If you actually have time to study hard then you can finish content well before your deadline.

As for practice, it just depends on how good of a test taker you are. I think you can do it if you really bust your balls though.

It depends. If you know the stuff very well already, you're fine. If you do not, then you'll need a lot more time.

Look at the SN2 schedule; it goes over one whole chapter per day, plus passage practice, plus passage review. That's a lot! Passages takes some time, and then reviewing them takes way longer.

Just trying to give you a picture of how big a time sink it is.

I am taking it May 24th too and working full time, just signed up for Kaplan online a week ago and pratice test is at 28 right now. I want to score 32-34, might be a stretch but gotta aim high.Good luck!

I'm almost in the same boat, except I'm scheduled to take the test on May 31, and I'm about 8 days into studying. I actually started in February, but I didn't have the discipline to really keep up with it so I fell behind. What I'm doing, and what I would suggest that you do, is follow SN2ed's schedule but "double up" (do two days of work every day and skip the break days) until you're caught up with the schedule. If you don't have a full time job or full time load of classes, I think this is doable.

The only problem is that if you don't already have the review books, it may take some time to get them, especially with BR.

I'm just going to see how it goes. Thankfully, we have until about two weeks before the test to cancel without penalties, so if I'm not ready by then I'll just postpone. Remember, the most important thing is getting a good score - this test is literally almost as important as all your grades.
