Is It True: Grading for NDBE Part I is now Much Harder?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
That's what I've been hearing.:scared:

Any anecdotes?

NO that is not the case. Every change brings with it a lotta misconceptions. If they change the marking PATTERN, they would have nothing to compare with from the past reference & that is tooo much to change.LOL.........

I took the NDBE part I in March and got 85% of the 400 questions right. I received a 91 for my score. Based on the year 2000 averages that I found on the ADA website 85% was approximately a 97. Take this info as you want. Either students are doing better or the grading harder.

You should read the thread I started titled NBDE part I standardization. It will explain why its happening that way.

FACT, people that say this didn't take the new one and have not gotten their results back yet. The truth is, the grading scale has made it much harder to score in the mid to high 90's, as your raw score closely matches your converted score as you reach higher and higher. Before you could miss 20-25 questions on a section depending on which section and still get a 99, but now you can only miss 11-16 per section in order to score over 90. Everyone that reports that the grading scale is more difficult now are people that have already taken it, everyone that says otherwise just haven't taken it yet. I dare anyone that has already taken it to say that they wouldn't have scored at least 5 points more (converted) if it was according to the old scale.
