Is it weird that I don't know why I want to be a doctor?

It's weird that us two are the only people creating any threads on hSDN lol. I'm tired of it not being active... 🙁

It's ok, it's not ease to verbalize things that maybe are emotional or the result of multiple factors summating to drive you. However try to figure it out by interview time.

I feel the same way, it just sort of popped in my mind during freshman year and I just fell in love with it ever since.

I was kind of the same way. You'll have to put it into words eventually though, so start thinking about it. Nothing to worry about at this point in time

It's not necessarily bad. More often I hear high school or freshmen college students raving about wanting to change the world and help people and cure diseases, etc. As soon as they get weeded out of their biology programs--well, perhaps after several months of grief and confusion--most adjust decently well to their new career path and say, "Biology/medicine wasn't for me." You'll figure it out. You may even find you have a greater passion for something else. Good luck.

At the beginning of high school it was all about the money. After many life experiences, I've moved further and further away from that idea. You have plenty of time to think

If you are doing it for the money I suggest you turn your head and walk in another direction... I don't mean anything personal but give the medical school spot to someone who wants it for the medicine.

Read the whole post next time my friend. Don't be lazy.

I know it's not money, I don't care about money. But I don't know why I want to become a doctor. Is this bad?

Nope. I didn't really know why I wanted to be on in high school either. I ended up switching paths a few times in college before finally coming back to medicine and now knowing why I want it. No rush.

At your age "I want to help people" is probably fine. When you go to apply to medical school, you'll have something better.

Thats Good sign and I know you're in the stage of confusion of choosing a course. But the thing is ..you just don't only rely on a tingly feeling, instead add more basis for that feeling.. search more, dig more, have a references.. you better think first before you take this course. Because youll trow a lot of money and time.

Not a bad thing in and of itself. Just make sure you find out why before starting medical school applications.
