My husband just got offered a great job in Cleveland starting next year. Is it too late to apply there for this cycle? Will it just be a waste of money? He has job offers elsewhere too, so it is not like we are relying on this job and med school to keep our life together.

What is the run down on ohio schools? Which are public, private etc. Which are within driving distance to cleveland? I feel like I am down to the wire and don't have time to research this myself, so I am asking those of you who can to help me fill in these little details so I can make a decision.

Thanks

I believe that the deadline to submit AMCAS has already passed. If you have already submitted, and just want to add schools, I am not sure. At any rate, I would wait til next year.

I wouldn't go for it; like the other guy said, I think it's too late. Even if the deadline hasn't been passed, your husband better have UNBELIEVABLE qualifications if he's going to try this late in the game.

I have already submitted my AMCAS and I am complete at 15 schools. Two of those have rejected me, 5 of them have me on hold, and 1 of them asked me for an interview. I am waiting for the rest to get back to me, but I wasn't complete until late sept/ early oct, so I am not worried yet... sort of.....

I hope to get in to med school this cycle. That is why I was wondering if it is too late to apply to ohio now.

Husband is great and he already got the job.

I am the one applying to medical school. I would say I am on average with the good applicants.

I don't think I will apply though. I feel like it is too late as well. Why throw another $400 down the drain.

Are the secondary deadlines already past? Personally, I'm not sure what the secondary deadlines are for if it's "too late" even before them. If it's a matter of being in the same area as your husband, then you have a good reason for applying later than most. I understand that conventional SDN wisdom says you're screwed if you're not complete in August, but come on. If it's before the deadline, you have a chance if you want to try. $400 is nothing when considering the big picture. I would not consider the money or the "lateness" of the application when making this decision. Your family and educational considerations greatly outweigh either of those. You can also call the schools and ask them if they think it is too late.

My husband won't take the job if we weren't in the same area. We are not that kind of family. I am going to call the schools tomorrow. Not a bad idea. Stalking them even before I submit my application.
