Is it worth it for me to apply to relatively top tiers like Columbia if I don't have anything to fill in for questions on the secondary like:

Please list collegiate honors, awards, and memberships in honorary societies*

Is it worth it to apply to any? Absolutely; roll the dice on a few. But if, in consulting the MSAR you find that these schools are all long-shots, I probably wouldn't waste the money and time to apply to dozens of reach schools.

But I think you should definitely try a few. Just make sure most of your schools are within your range (and a few safeties of course, too).

PS: And these awards can be anything. Any Dean's List or Departmental Honors type stuff? It's all good, and it gives you something to put in the blank.

I remember LizzyM saying recently that most people don't actually put down anything for that category.

So, don't feel bad.

That secondary is just provided for people who do have those honors and such. I am sure they many people without such honors enter the class. It just looks good on the application.

Okay good, I'm submitting this one later in the morning. Thanks people.

Surely you have had at least one semester of all A's... which would give you Dean's or President's List... that could be listed. Also, if you have already graduated, then perhaps you were Magma or Summa Cum Lauded.

Yeah - I think I can put 2 semesters of Deans list. I'm about done with this secondary - thanks for all your help people.

Don't put your Dean's List. Even if that's all you have. Your transcript already reflects whether or not you did well in a given semester.
