to retake the classes you did bad in? or just go on and do better in the succeeding classes? would med school look pass my D in calculus 1 for my A in calculus 3? retaking calc 1 would be an easy a and boost my gpa, but that's just a waste of time and money to me. schools in texas system require at least a C in all required classes. i know that med schools require half year of calculus, but they don't say WHAT level. so that doesn't mean i need calc one right? thanks.

Right. It's a total waste to re-take a class when you've taken higher levels of the same subject. Schools will see that as a total waste- OF COURSE you'd do well taking calc I if you'd already aced calc III. Many undergrads won't even allow you to do that.

according to aamc's MSAR book, only a handful of schools actually require calculus (i think less than 10 schools). talk to your premed advisor about retaking calculus.

my freshman year (before i even considered med school) i got a D in english 101. then i did better in english 102, but i went back and took english 101 over again my senior year because i had the time to do it and it was paid for by scholarship, plus med schools require at least a C in the prerequisites. my A this time replaced the D in my school's GPA, but AMCAS just averaged the two grades.

point being don't stress too much over it. i still got into a school with a D on my transcript. probably best bet would be call the schools' admissions offices that you are considering applying to.

hope this helps.
